Congratulations!!!
I will be starting shortly, I'm curious, what was covered in your first lesson?

It will depend on your instructor, An intro ride will be a walkaround (Checking airplane controls, fuel and such) performed each time you fly. You will then often get to taxi around the airport learning how to control the plane on the ground. you should get to takeoff fly over your house and come back and land with help of course.
My first flight was in an ultra light 2 Christmas ago, I did not get to touch anything. Everyone said just go get your PL instead of UL. So I went for it, He had me walkaround, taxi, then taxi to the end of the runway, said "Push the throttle in, when you get to 60 kts pull back yoke (Keep the horizon in sight)"

that's what I looked like. We flew over my house 15 miles away then came back and I landed with more help than he let on. I just gave him my Credit Card and said I'll see you tomorrow. It took two months and I had my PL.
