I would appreciate some help regarding flight instruction here in Rapid City.  Please post some information for me so I can get going on this.  Thanks.

contact: Shashi Kanth  snkanth@usa.net

I sold my Piper Six N32394 to him and he is at the KRAP field. He is not a CFI but his two CFI's that were there to fly the plane were very good. The one older one owns or is part owner at the new self service pump off to the right. They are putting up new hangers over there also. Shashi is a real nice guy and worth talking to just for the heck of it. Tell him Dan said Hi, and hope all is well with the Six I really miss it.

Hi,

I'm as new as they come. I have been a skydiver for about 4 years, and I am obsessed with trying new things.  A friend of mine at the DZ is a CFI and has offered us training at a discount.  So here I am, brand new student.  I have only done my discovery flight so far, but its safe to say I am hooked!

I am a Project Manager in Smithfield, RI, but I live in CT.  I work with a team in India and in the US to provide CRM solutions to the businesses within my company.  I discovered this website and am excited to get to know more of you.

I am really excited to become a private pilot, after that I'll see where this new skill can take me!

Wow, where do I find a friend like that?!  Grin

Good luck to you.  This site has a ton of stuff to read and think about.

Hi All,

My name is Greg. I am currently flying as a first officer for a regional airline in the Pacific Northwest. I am 26 years old and started flying in '98. I attended ERAU in Prescott. From there, I worked at an FBO (fixed base operator) in Pullman, WA. While in Pullman, I was a flight instructor, flew part 135 charter (including backcountry flying in Idaho), flew photography flights for local researchers, flew animal tracking flights with WA fish and game, and flew fire recon flights as a forest service contractor.

From Pullman, I started working for Ameriflight (cargo company) flying Chieftains out of Portland, OR. Last summer I started flying for the airline I am now working for.

Anyway, I am posting on this site to let everyone know that I am happy answering any questions people might have about flying in general, or those things that I have specific experience in.

Hello everyone Smiley

Why am I here?

Long story, my father is an active participant in his EAA chapter and the local flying community and my brother is an F-16/22 Crew Chief in the Air Force.  I suppose through my exposure with them I picked up the aviation bug and am now getting to a point in my life where financhially I feel like I can start to get in the game...which led me here, hopefully to some folks with much more experience than I where I can participate in the forums and hopefully give something back as time goes on.

My name is Jason, live in San Antonio TX and am a network communications engineer for a big company down here.  Initally, even though I am contemplating doing all this cause I want to actually be in the air...I have to admit I have a strong bend towards actually the engineering and building side of it.  Have even been considering going to school to get my A&P mechanic cert's.

At any rate, that is a little about me.  Look forward to talking with you all.

OK, it looks like it's been a while... here goes another intro...

I'm an info security consultant (I do credit card stuff, forensics, security architecture) and I am an online professor.
I was a volunteer firefighter when I was an undergraduate, and later an EMT.
I have a BSEE from RIT, an MS in Comp-Sci from Marist College, and an MBA from Marist College.
I used to rock climb when I was younger and in my 20s... now I am in my 40s and just young (not young). I was also into martial arts until recently, now I focus on my wife and kids, and lots of traveling...!

For a while, I was used to a weekly commute in Embraer and CRJ aircraft, so I got over my "fear" of flying. I must admit, I am still a little wary of CRJ's -- something about the handling always makes me a little edgy, and I always opt for the ERJ over the CRJ whenever I can.

OK, so what am I doing in a small, single engine plane, and looking at ads for used Warriors and Alarus planes?
Well, I want to learn to fly! That's about the size of it.
I guess I'm still looking for my "mission" so to speak.

Right now, I am looking for a great headset that is of low-cost. I actually order an AVCOM 200... if it's too cheap to be used for piloting, it can always become a "backup" or passenger set later.
For now though, the instructor's advice was "You gotta swallow it. It comes in many flavors." Smiley My thought on that is -- "my favorite flavor is - my own!!" :)k

See ya'll--!!

One more thing...

one of my (online) students is a Navy airman, also a big gamer.
He suggested that Microsoft FS X is the "best" and a great resource.
Is it true that this can help you before you even get in the plane?
(too late, I already did!)
Not a bad investment for $49.99 list... not sure if I would really need the yoke and rudders. I think the money would be better spent on a kit.

Still, my wife has an uncle who flew for several decades. He has been a great resource and a sounding board... now retired, he has been talking about getting back into flying and becoming a CFI. Well, I dunno if the latter is serious or not (maybe it is?), but I will say that it's great to have another pilot in the family as I learn... sharing of materials AND of stories and experiences. That's what learning is all about I guess! Smiley

ciao!

Hi Fellow Pilots
I lve in Escondido, Ca. I have my Commercial Single and Mulit Engine Instrument rating, that I have recently aquired.
I'm looking for any fellow pilot in the San Diego area that would be interested in splitting twin time rental.  I'll have my CFI by mid July.
 Please contact me at 760 489 5531.
Thank you and fly safe!

Hello All,

My name is Russell and I am from a small town in Southeastern Kentucky! I have wanted to fly since I could hold my own head up and now Im finally getting the chance. I have flown quiet a bit on major airliners to and from several different places, but have never occupied the cockpit of any aircraft! I plan on going on a Discovery Flight this week, hopefully! I just finished my four-year degree and am attending Delta Connection Academy in Orlando this summer! Let me just say, I am genuinely excited about what I will experience there at the Orlando-Sanford Airport!

This site, especially the forums, is advantageous to pilots of all experience levels to ask questions and even get to know other pilots! This is a great site! Thanks!

Welcome to all the new folks!  I have been so busy working on a new book and a new video (that I will give you all for free) that I have not been on the forums much.

Come back and enjoy your flying!
