is it possible for someone with diabetes to obtain a license

I would think so, contact an AME (aviation medical examiner), which you should be able to find in a town/city near you at one of the hospitals.

I have read about this recently but all I remember is dependant on the Type (I, II, etc.)  Google is always a good place to start or check out the FAA website.  FAA.gov
