Hello, I am currently a "PC Pilot" using Microsoft Flight Sim 2004. However I am now looking to move into realworld flying and want to gain my PPL. I am a UK national living in the UK and going to Las Vegas on vacation in 2 months. I was looking to take my 1st Flying lesson whilst on vacation and have contacted a number of places about this. One Flight Instructor told me:
"In order for you to have a flight lesson in the united states you will have to be approved by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration to take flight training in the United States. This is not a difficult process, but it does take some effort.
It requires finger prints and about 4 weeks of processing as well as a fee."
My question is this - Does this apply to someone wanting just to take thier 1st "introductory flight" in the US for example the PILOT JOURNEY DISCOVERY FLIGHT? (i.e ME!) Or would it only apply if I wanted to continue and get the full PPL in the US.
I only intend to start the journey (that 1 fligth only) in Las Vegas and will continue the training when I get home to the UK - can anyone help?
