Starting Out / General Discussion and Introductions / Question about physical
|

I have knee problems. Both of my knees make noises when walking up stairs or bending. They do hurt when I am kneeling down and try to get back up or sometimes when I walk up a flight of stairs depending on how I walk up it. Also, I have had back problems. I have two bulging disks in my lower back. I have had injections done a couple of years ago. The only time it hurts is when I do a lot of heavy lifting or hard physical labor. Does anyone know if that will be a factor in whether or not I can get a Class 1 medical certificate? Can I even get a Class 3 with that being said?
Thanks Rich

Starting Out / General Discussion and Introductions / Medical Certificate

Does anyone know the process in as far as medical certificates with regardes to Class 1, 2 and 3. I want to get one but dont know what is all inlvovled with what they do as far as classifications. Do they check you more thoroughly for a Class 1 as opposed to Class 3? What do they check for? Do they check for anything and everything possible?
I am in a career change at 37 y.o. and interested in learning how to fly. I would hope that someday I could learn how to fly a jet. I was reading that it would be very wise for a person to go to their family doctor and get a physical and then goto a FAA medical doctor. If you get denied with the FAA doctor then you have to goto to one at Oklahoma City, OK to get things worked out. If I goto my family doctor for the intention of getting a Class 1, then what do I tell him to look for or test for?

Starting Out / General Discussion and Introductions / Re: Langa Air?

I dont know anyone there but I am considering going there myself. I have visited the school and took the Flight Discovery and really like the setup there. They have the convience of having their own airport basically. The thing that is drawing me towards them is the fact that they have that affiliation with GoJet airlines which is headquarted in St. Louis. That is great because I want have to move or anything. You train there and fly out of there. I want to fly a jet like a 747, 777, etc., but at 37 years old I really dont know if it is worth investing a lot of money to get a bacheliors degree in aviation.
As of now, GoJet only requires an associates and a certain amount of flight hours. Also, since I have been wise enought when I was younger, I have an applied associates degree in Business Administration from SWIC in Belleville, IL. Now according to Langa Air, I wont even have to step in the college because I already have my general studies done.
GoJet only uses the CRJ700 but at least it is a jet and I would like that. Also, they are a growing company with more jets on the way. So hopefully, with the affiliation Langa Air has with them, I will be considered in the process.
Anyways, I would recommend them. If you live in this area, and want to fly a jet, I think this would be a great start.....
