I'm an aviation attorney and I can tell you that the FAA has become much more lenient on this topic in recent years. Get a good AME and they can guide you through the process. If you have any trouble with Aeromedical at the FAA - the best idea is to subscribe to the AOPA Legal Service Plan and allow them to help you with the problem. You should be able to get your medical back as long as it is under control.

Best of luck.

My personal favortie is Panorama Flight Service at Westchester Airport (KHPN). I have used them for my basic PPL and all my ratings including IR. They are pretty much the best in the area.

Not such an unusual story as I have learned. Congrats on getting back in the saddle. Having learned to fly and then giving it up for awhile - I found that the second time was better then the first - I was more mature and more deeply into learning!

Best of luck and safe flying!

I recently bought a set of Peltor Pro headsets and find them to work very well. I also have a Dave Clark in the plane but notice little if any difference - and the difference in price is considerable.

Buon Natale (MERRY CHRISTMAS) to all - and have a safe 2005!

Cessna puts out of good information package on lease backs - just be sure to factor in the insurance costs - which are considerable

A leasback is basically where you own the airplane and all it's financial risks, insurance, etc., and the FBO uses the plane to rent to students and renters - and pay you a portion of the rental income. There are some good tax advantages to it - but a few basic disadvantages: First, you don't get to use your plane when it's rented to someone else - Second - you are letting student pilots use (and maybe abuse) the plane and third - your insurance rates will be very high.

There is obviously much more that goes with it - and FBO contracts are different (for example some will offer a reduction in tie down rates and gasoline) but that is the basics.

Hope that helps!

If anyone in this business thinks they know everything - that would be a time to quit!  LOL

Always a student!

Always a good idea to carry a few with you in the flight bag - - - - just in case.

OK my turn. My name is Sal and I am an attorney in Westchester County NY - retired from Law Enforcement. I own and fly a Cessna Cardinal RG which is based at HPN. I am currently working on my instrument rating. I write articles and give presentations on aviation law and am on the AOPA legal panel. I find these forums a great way of exchanging ideas and flying safety tips. Glad to be aboard!
