Topdocbhalla, in canada i would recommend moncton flight college ( www.mfc.nb.ca ) they have a great reputation as one of the best schools in the country and offer a various array of different flying situations.

height normally isn't an issue, 5'2" seems plenty tall enough to fly any plane. remember that just like a car most of the seats are adjustable, and if not then the pedals normally can move forward.

My best suggestion would be to look into companies that actually train the pilots they hire. you'll have to forgive me i'm at work currently and do not have an advertisement ready, i do know there are a few out there that do this type of training. keep your eyes open for these places. normally these are your best bets for getting a decent start in aviation. if i could go back and do it over again i would take this route.

Unless you absolutly need the cell phone adaptors from this headset, i would look at some other brands, I own an ASA headset, cost me 125 (canadian) and its worked very well for me during my training. I personally, once i have enough money will most likely upgrade to the david clarks but thats a ways away yet. anyways, keep looking around im sure there are better deals out there for ya somewhere, but if you really like these ones go for it!

I would definatly recommend checking out sites like ebay and the such. Also take a gander at book stores on-line, and pilot supply stores, sometimes you find all you need in the range of 5-6 hundred. For me, i was lucky the school i attended arranged its own material and sold it to us at a great rate in a bundle at the start of the course. The best piece of advise i would offer is never settle on a price because its offered directly to you, look as far as you can and make sure you get the best possible options. Either way best of luck in your pursuit! I'm sure you'll be a welcomed addition to the skies!

Having flown with about 6 different intructors during my private and commercial, I'm not sure if i could find too much fault and the different ways of teaching and flying. I know that each intructor i flew with was very accomidating to how i was flying and instead of teaching one way and one way only they should me more of how to better what i was doing and gave me hints and tips towards bettering me as a pilot, Anways, with my two cents from the last post and this little rant that equals about 5 cents and now im broke Cheesy hehe

I'm not sure if i fully understand the post, I mean for most of us, flying will make us money in aviation, and for most of us, as long as we fly, we are happy, be it flying boxes, people or mail bags. Other than this I do have a thought in my head of opening my own small aviation business. Most likely going to be a float plane outfit, to fly you and your buddies into lakes and the what not for the fishing and the hunting and the such.. I know theres a few like this out there already but always room for more competition i guess.. anyways thats my little two cents worth.

damn, I've heard of pilots who do similar things and the story is all to familiar for them all... I've read a few accident reports to see if it was pilot error or aircraft problems, in most cases, it was an assembly problem, traced back to the manufactuering of the aircraft.. kinda scary, thinking that someone is expecting a "safe" aircraft, and realizing it had to be ditched.. not good Sad

I've been looking into making my own little airport room, you know how some people have their train rooms, and the trains go all around the room, yeh same idea here, only I'm looking at having airplanes suppended from the ceiling most likely showing some in the circuit, some on approach, maybe some on the ramp and what not anyways, you all get the picture. But you see my friends, I have looked into the diecast aircraft and accessories shown in the mall here and they have dates such as, added in 2006, 2007, 2011.. Does this mean I really need to wait this long before I can begin the construction of my wonderful world? or is this a page error? anyways let me know and if they are in stock someone's gonna make a lot of money off me  :p  hehe thanks!!

having a compatible instructor is for sure a definate must for flight trainning, it cost to much to ''waste'' time with someone who isn't making things work for you!

 For me the stall warning horn goes off every now and then on my landings, depending on how fast i come in, Since just after my private my main concern has switch from spot landings, at the lower speeds to the enroute descents, with quicker approaches, roughly 80 or so in my c172 depends on really how i feel that day. of course with the higher speeds i more or less follow the glide path for the runways in use and if not provided shoot for the 500 foot marks, and try to get the flare some place near the threshold. If i come in a little to quick and i need to get the airspeed way down, i'll get the horn, and if i come in on too high of an approach and im trying to have a very quick flat descent i'll get the horn going off, but im really got my final glide path now to the point where i literally just fly it onto the runway and brake as needed. I've only had one complaint from an instructor and that was that I had almost gone over Vfe, which is 85 I believe, its been too long since ive been in a cessna last  Shocked   been doing a lot of trainning on a piper seminole  Cheesy  thats a wicked cool plane!! Smiley hehe

Im glad to hear that you had a more confortable experience with the spin environment! the aerobatics intructor at my school loves to demonstrate spins, spirals, loops, and inverted flight, i've been lucky enough i guess to be able to see these attitudes and it takes a lot of the fear from the unknown..

I'm relieved to hear that everything worked out well for you in the end, I'm not sure about you folks down south, but for us in the great white north, stalls can "normally" only be practised at a predetermined safe altitude as specified by a Transport Canada fellow, this is determined by him taking a cessna or what ever his flavor of the month is, up to our trainning areas and seeing what type of terrain we have, he apparently feels that 3000 feet is fully sufficient however the trainning school I attend has added an extra 2000, so we dont practise any lower than 5000 when doing stalls, we are also taught to recover from surprise spins within 1000 feet of altitude loss, which basically leaves us with 4000 feet of 'play room'... sometimes we like to sneak an extra turn in the spin  :cool:   we crazy canucks can't get enough of the spins hehe  The next time you go and practise the stalls, make sure you most importantly are at an altitude where you feel it completely safe, that even if you need to quickly think about the procedures you can recover from any misshaps. But my #1 advise tip for the day, if your not practising stalls, dont stall the plane, sure fire way to avoid spins.

Just a side note, i noticed that he recovered from the spin, afterwards did he explain to you the proceedure from recovering from the spin, and how to recognize if it was indeed a spin or a spiral dive? If anyone does not know the recommeded procedures please find them in either the AOM, or ask a flight intructor, its one of the procedures that will safe you from this type of possible accident!!!!
