Is there a point to buying a fligjt simulator? If so how could it help me with flight training. Thanks
Briana

Hi Briana,
To me flight sims are a good tool. I learned to virtual fly 5 years ago using Il2 Sturmovik. The plane set is in 3d and there are alot of WW2 pilots that swear up and down that they are in a real plane. The beauty of virtual is if you crash you can respawn in a brand new paint job and start all over again. The controls are in real time. I also use Trak IR4 which puts your head movements into the sim as if you are actually looking around. Tir 4 is a tracking devise using infrared light to track your movements with a reflective dot on your forehead. It is amazing to be so close yet so safe. So I say yes! it is worth buying a simulator. The weather, sun clouds, night, what ever time it's worth it. It will keep youe wits sharp. Good luck and I'll see ya in the air.
Chili out

Matt, have you done stalls on the sim? I had a lesson at 7:30 AM and I asked my instructor to demonstrate a stall. Man did that wake me up! It was kind of what I expected but still the descent rate was kind of alarming. It happens so quickly, I was wondering if practing them on a sim would help.

Yes I stall quit alot especially if I turn too sharp or climb too steep for too long and you lose your air speed. The trick is altitude. Practice at 4000 meters. Flat spins are the hardest to come out of. If you spin to the right reduce rpms twist the stick to the left with full flaps and push foward on the nose to aim to the ground to try and gain speed. Once the plane starts to recover slowly straighten the stick. Ease back on the stick until you go level. Increase rpms full throttle raise flaps. Your flying again. Just the oposite if you spin the other way.
