Title: Introduction
Post by: James on September 05, 2007, 11:51:19 AM
Hi everyone, I am James and I am from North Texas.  I am looking into getting my sport pilots license as I have built myself a plane.

I built a Challenger II Ultalight with a 583 rotax.  Not a bad kit, fairly straight foward with alot of available tech support.  Anyways, I finished the project and have now logged about 20 hours of flight in it.  Mostly around Northern Texas and southern Oklahoma.  I have plenty of room to take off from my pasture and have a great private runway in the Kiamichi mountains.

The problem:  I am getting bored flying back and forth and would like to expand my horizons.  Like I said before I have no license, and have been very careful not to get "Pulled over".  This bird is EASY to fly, I taught myself in about an hour of low level take offs and landings at my house.  I have looked in my very local area and have not found a Sport Pilot instructor.  I would also like to do my training in my OWN plane, it seems silly to pay 100 dollars and hour to rent someone elses when i have my own.

Is it at all likely I can find someone to train with me in my plane?
How much trouble am I going to be in when I get "Pulled over" before I get the license?
Am I the only one that is stupid enough to teach themselves to fly?

Thanks for you time everyone!!!!!

 :)
