Starting Out / All About Airplanes / Beginner Plane

I will be starting my flight school very soon and am thinking about purchasing a plane of my own. I figure this will cut the cost I have to pay for training plus give me a plane i can greatly enjoy after I get my private. I am debating between the Cessna 152 and 172. Both are used in flight training programs across the country, and I know they are both pretty similar, but which would be best for me? Keep in mind, as of now, I have zero hours of flight time! I am open to any suggestions! Thanks!

Hello all,
Since I havent started my training yet, Im not sure about the exams I need to take? I plan on attending Delta Connection Academy in July, but I want to be as prepared as possible before I go. Are there any tests that I can be studying for before I actually start class there? Are there any tests I could have out of the way before I start class? I have heard a little bit about the airman knowledge test, but dont know anything about the exam. Is it a test I need to have out of the way before I begin flying, or just before I get my Private? What materials are best to start studying? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I agree with Mark! Delta Connection Academy is a GREAT program that offers the ability to attend one of several different colleges to get your degree WHILE getting your pilot training! They have one of the most talked about programs out there! To have a career as a professional pilot, it will be very advantageous to aquire that 4 year degree! You are on the right track! Keep asking questions!

Starting Out / Accelerated Flight Training / Delta Connection Academy

I have researched lots of different options as to where I should attend school for my flight training! After reading literally hundreds of pages of information about admission, cost, room and board, aircraft, training and so on, I have concluded that Delta Connection Academy has just about the best training available. The main campus, being on the Orlando-Sanford Airport, is in the heart of the beautiful Sunshine State and offers 360 great days for flying each year! They have a well maintained fleet of over 100 aircraft including Cessna 172's, Piper Seminoles and Cirrus SR-22's, just to name a few! I have spoken with customer service on many occasions and they were ALWAYS awesome at helping me find the answers I needed. According to all and any literature I can find, Delta Connection Academy is one of the best schools out there. Period!
If you have been looking for a flight academy that offers an accelerated (however, you work at your own pace) academy, look a little harder at Delta Connection Academy! I don't think you'll be disappointed!

Hello All,
My name is Russell and I am from a small town in Southeastern Kentucky! I have wanted to fly since I could hold my own head up and now Im finally getting the chance. I have flown quiet a bit on major airliners to and from several different places, but have never occupied the cockpit of any aircraft! I plan on going on a Discovery Flight this week, hopefully! I just finished my four-year degree and am attending Delta Connection Academy in Orlando this summer! Let me just say, I am genuinely excited about what I will experience there at the Orlando-Sanford Airport!
This site, especially the forums, is advantageous to pilots of all experience levels to ask questions and even get to know other pilots! This is a great site! Thanks!

tncmtncm,
First of all, where will you training (flight academy, college, a CFI at your local airport, etc)? Flight acedemies, or any of these, will guide you in the right direction as to the preperations you will need to make for your advancement. Secondly, what are your goals as a pilot? You mentioned a "fleet". Are you referring to an airline? Do you want to become an ATP? Also, if you are wanting to get hired with an airline it will be a benefit to have a four-year degree. It doesn't necessarily matter what field your degree is in, but I do know that having the degree will be advantageous to your hiring with any airline.
Hope I was of some help.
