Daytona Beach,
Florida,
USA - Phoenix East Aviation, Inc. (PEA) has announced an expansion of their training fleet with the acquisition of new Diamond Aircraft DA-42 Twin Star aircraft. These advanced twin-engine aircraft will further enhance the academys training fleet and provide students more advanced preparation for careers as professional pilots.
The DA42 is the undisputed piston aircraft technology leader, according to Ghassan Reslan, CEO of Phoenix East: With its carbon airframe, Garmin G1000 glass cockpit and FADEC controlled turbo-diesel (JET-A1) powerplant, it is a superb aircraft. This 270 hp aircraft meets the definition of a complex aircraft with its flaps, retractable gear and variable pitch propeller. Our students are very excited about flying them for their twin-engine training. The G1000 provides Phoenix East students the opportunity to learn and practice with an integrated avionics system. Captain Reslan commented that future generations of pilots will all be using such a system; were pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity to train with such an advanced avionics package.
From an operating perspective, the cost benefits of the DA42 are impressive, allowing Phoenix East to maintain lower training costs than many schools. The DA42 has fuel-efficient turbo-diesel T.A.E Centurion 1.7 engines and low drag airframe. The cruise speed at 80% is 172 ktas/12.5 gal/hr total. The rate of climb at sea level is 1,280 ft/min.
The Gl000 system integrates all primary flight, navigation, communication, terrain, traffic, weather and engine sensor data on two 10 inch high-definition LCD displays.
