Crystal Air has been offering flight training out of the Sewanee/Franklin County airport since 2003. Our training airplane is a 1999 model Cessna 172R (four seats, single engine). The Cessna 172 is a very popular trainer because of its easy handling and excellent safety record. Rebecca Gibson is the instructor with Crystal Air in Sewanee. She has been flying since 1996 and instructing since 2000. She has over 4000 hours instructing, and nearly 3000 hours at Sewanee in this aircraft.  In that time, 95% of our Private Pilot applicants and over 80% of our Instrument applicants passed the checkride on the first attempt. Most Private Pilot applicants were able to pass the checkride with flying colors with less than 50 hours in their logbooks.
