Discovery Flight Information for flight schools

The Pilot Journey Discovery Flight program is much like the Be a Pilot program with the following differences.  WATCH A PRESENTATION

1. The cost of the flight is $99.
   
   
2. In the marketing of the Discovery Flight we share with the prospect that this flight can not be used as a gift certificate. We suggest that gift certificate flights be priced at $199 and be sold at the school level. We also share with the prospect that they must be at least 17 years old to use the Discovery Flight Coupon.
   
   
3. The prospect will also get a link to a free Discovery Flight Plan e-book in PDF format. This e-book will share with the prospect some of the reasons to obtain a pilot certificate along with what to expect on their Discovery Flight. In addition the purpose of the e-book is to share a more realistic cost for earning the Private Pilot Certificate so that your selling job is made easier.
   
   
4. The prospect will also get a link to Your Discovery Flight, an online seminar that shares with them what the Discovery Flight is all about. It helps them be more prepared for the flight.
   
   
5. Participating schools will also be able to get mailing lists for prospects in their area, and we have an email marketing solution for follow-up.
   
   
6. Prior to the Discovery Flight, Pilot Journey will conduct follow-up email campaigns to encourage the prospect to follow through with the flight.
   
   
7. After the prospect completes the flight the school has the option of entering the prospects email address in a form along with your school's phone number, this will trigger automated follow-up emails to encourage the prospect to sign-up for lessons. Once the prospect signs up, the school may enter the same information and the emails will stop. In addition the prospect may also stop the emails with a link in each email.
   
   
8. Pilot Journey will survey the prospects that do not sign-up and attempt to determine why they chose not to. This survey information is then shared with the school.

Summary

We encourage schools to offer slightly more for the $99 Discovery Flight than they do for a lower-priced flight. We suggest this in the form of ground instruction both before and after the flight. Research has shown that this helps the prospect feel more relaxed and successful while on the flight. We also believe that the $99 flight will result in more conversions to students than a lower-priced flight.
