MASPL's Exciting NEW 1-Week Sport Flight School Highlighted in Popular Mechanics Magazine in November 2005!!!! The 1-Week School opened on October 14th, 2005 and graduated its first student on October 27th, only 13 days, despite devastating weather from Hurricane Wilma. See Press Releases. Davin Coburn of Popular Mechanics magazine started his 1-Week course on 11 Dec 2005 and received his Sport Pilot certificate from the FAA on Dec 18th. Davin reported his 8-day intensive learning experience on a daily basis at the main webpage of PM: www.popularmechanics.com You can also see Davin's daily reports and get a feel for how the flight school operates by looking at this website's "Sport Pilot in a Week" Webpage. Davin received his sport pilot certificate after only 7 flyable days and 22 flight hours. 1- Week Immersion Training Course for Sport Pilot License - $4290 - 1 Week Sport Pilot School is located at the Bryce Mountain Resort in Virginia. - Includes a Private Flight Instructor for the entire week - Includes all training materials required for the ground and flight schools. - You must successfully complete your written test BEFORE starting your flight training week. NO EXCEPTIONS!!! - Includes 20 hours of Sport Pilot flight training (15 hours with an instructor in the cockpit with you and 5 hours solo but with supervision by your instructor on the ground) Includes an FAA Knowledge Test and Checkride (provided that you are ready) - Includes a logbook and flight computer. - Includes use of the Federal Aviation Regulations and a local aviation sectional map - Includes unlimited use of our flight simulator - Includes lodging for 7 nights and 8 days in a private room with bath in the luxurious Airport View Chalet. - Includes an EAA Membership for 1 year - Includes a Sport Pilot Magazine Subscription - Includes MASPL's "Ground School Plus" (5 hours with instructor) and unlimited use of 15 Instructional DVDs OTHER INFORMATION - Can learn to fly in your own light sport aircraft (optional separate purchase contract required) for half-price ($2100) 10% discount for 2nd person when 2 people sign up together for the same week. - In your spare time you can enjoy all of the amenities that the Bryce Resort offers including golfing, skiing, tennis, fitness center etc. (extra fees involved). You can bring along up to 3 persons with you for the week at the resort. - Go to the following URL for more information about the Bryce Resort: www.bryceresort.com At completion of course you could be ready for your flight test with an FAA examiner. We will pay the examiner fee for your checkride. However, we do not guarantee that you will get a checkride at the end of 7 days. It is wholly dependent upon how quickly you assimilate the required flight skills. If you need extra flight hours (over and above the 20 you get as part of the package) to get to your checkride, they cost $125 each (including instructor). Extra lodging nights cost $125 each. When you are ready, we will arrange your checkride. We recommend that you plan an 11-day stay when you sign up, just in case you need additional instruction over and above 20 hours and 8 days - To reserve your week - a $500 deposit is required by check or $525 with your credit card. - Full payment is required 15 days prior to the start of your course - Students are required to get a "aircraft renters" liability insurance policy ($250,000) including $5000 of hull insurance, through www.aopa.org or www.eaa.org before starting the flight portion of the school. This will cost you about $220-300, but is good for an entire year of renting aircraft from any flight school of FBO, not just for rentals from MASPL. - The FAA requires that all flight school students identify themselves prior to beginning instruction using either a birth certificate or a passport. - Remember to bring your birth certificate or passport with you to the flight school.
