Aviation Science Program
Naugatuck Valley Community College is a public, two-year, non-residential accredited institution with enrollment of approximately 5500 students situated in urban Waterbury, Connecticut.
The Associate in Aviation Science Degree Program is a unique 68 credit aviation program offered through NVCC and accredited by the Connecticut Board of Higher Education. Students are provided with the educational background and training required to seek a career in aviation management or as a professional pilot.
The Flight Curriculum is both an academic degree program and a pilot certification process. The flight training, simulator training and theory portions of the Flight Curriculum will prepare students to meet the minimum requirements for Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) 141 certification for private, commercial, instrument, multi-engine, and flight instructor ratings for either fixed or rotary wing (helicopter) aircraft.
All flight training costs are the responsibility of the student.
Training in the Management Option prepares students for a broad range of aviation management careers including aircraft manufacturing airlines, corporate flight departments, airport authorities, and state and federal aviation regulatory agencies.
The Aviation Science Degree Program can also serve as the first two years of a bachelor’s degree in Aviation Science for those students interested in transferring to a four year institution. Students could pursue a bachelor’s degree in one of several standard aviation majors: Aviation Management, Air Traffic Control, Aviation Electronics, Aviation Maintenance, and Aviation Computer Science.
